Marta is really quite remarkable." - Ian Smith, Frusion UK, 2022
Portuguese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Marta Duarte d’Almeida calls the world her musical home. Her curious instrumentalism and charismatic voice take her audiences into a magical world of World Music, Portuguese Folk, Blues, Jazzy Swing, and even Fado, accompanied by storytelling full of energy and emotions.
Marta feels the necessity to leave behind the limitations of genre and instrument. She unites her exceptional talent for song-writing, arranging and stage-acting with her unique charm and fierce presence - relishing all the possibilities the world of music has to offer.
Marta studied guitar and voice in JBJAZZ and Hot Clube de Portugal. At Lusíada University of Lisbon, Marta completed a degree in Jazz and Modern Music, specializing in guitar. With her graduation she became the first female jazz guitarist of Portugal. Additionally, Marta has also created a variation of projects such as storytelling shows, live online jam-concerts, musical theater performance and of course her band “MaZéi”.
Marta’s first album “Alcanchais”was recorded with her band MaZéi in 2017. Among her recent releases are the singles “Ó Amor Todo, Ó Amor Às Vezes” (2018) and "Êxodo" (2019), her second album “Christmas with Marta” (2020) and the single"Esmeralda" (2021). This single was chosen for noted editorial Spotify playlists. Her latest album "Marta and the Boat - Live from the Middle of the Atlantic" (2022) captures her solo-project "Marta and the Boat" live from Lava Jazz Club on the Azores islands.
