Wilderness Hymnal is an experimental project helmed by Manchester multi-instrumentalist Javier Wallis, and featuring collaborators including John Simm (Cleft) and Michael Kelly (Calaca Strides).

Drawing on themes both personal and political, his work could be located somewhere at the intersection between Dead Can Dance, Björk and Scott Walker. Immersive and evolving, here he occupies an idiom all his own, of shape-shifting post-rock, seething psychedelic drone and eerie, apocalyptic piano music.

“An aura-soaked one-man vision…ethereal and expansive.” – The Sleeping Shaman

“A refreshing, borderless and experimental vein in music” – Echoes & Dust

"Not a million miles from the excellent Brother/Ghost and with hints of Diamanda Galás, Wilderness Hymnal is an outfit to watch out for...a triumphant performance." - Soundblab
