Her musical roots trace back to her childhood, influenced by her father, who played guitar in an AC/DC cover band called "Crazy Crowd." Before he tragically passed away when she was 11, he gifted her guitars. As a child, she didn’t fully understand the significance of this.
It wasn’t until later, during her travels and studies in Los Angeles in 2016, that VANICE began to embrace music on her own terms. Her host family had a collection of instruments, and it was there that she finally picked up the guitar and taught herself to play. Soon after, she began writing her own songs, which quickly led to concert bookings across Austria.
Through her performances, she earned an internship at a venue, where she expanded her knowledge by working as a sound engineer, deepening her understanding of the technical side of music.
After finishing high school, she moved to Berlin to study music production, where she continued to refine her skills—technically, vocally, and by learning additional instruments like piano, bass, and synth. She started playing with a small band and released her first recordings with the band in 2020.
When the pandemic struck, VANICE pivoted to focus on solo production, leading to the release of her first self-produced single, Ocean. This marked a new chapter in her career, showcasing her ability to craft rich, atmospheric soundscapes. Her most recent work, including her single Cope, reveals a more introspective and emotionally-driven sound. Her latest track, Baked, stands as her most vulnerable release to date, offering listeners a raw and personal insight into her artistry.
In 2023, VANICE and her friend Lukas founded the project "Tangerine Tunes," creating live acoustic sessions for independent artists.
Looking ahead, VANICE is exploring new sonic territories. Her upcoming releases will further diversify her sound, with some tracks incorporating elements of Hip-Hop and R&B, while others will focus on more up-tempo, rhythm-driven production.
VANICE is an artist to watch, continually evolving and pushing the boundaries of her craft.
