East Funk Attack, led by drummer Tomi Salesvuo, has an updated lineup.

The lineup of the group is now complete and East Funk Attack are releasing an in-studio live music video series, one single at a time! The East Funk Attack band is more compact than before, now as a sextet, and features the charming and talented singer, Taru Ratilainen. Taru’s roots are in rhythmic music, and she has released her own music under the artist name Ezmi. This was the perfect time for her to join forces with the funk group, which Salesvuo founded in 2013. Taru was seen on The Voice of Finland a few years ago, and she has also performed as a freelance singer with a wide variety of musical acts.

On the heels of a recent tour of Germany, the Tomi Salesvuo East Funk Attack now presents five videos of musical performances of the group. Shot and recorded live at the new E-Studio in Sipoo, the songs are an introduction of the new line-up to audiences everywhere. East Funk Attack will tour Finland for the first time in September with the new lineup. After the tour, the band will work on new material, which will be recorded and released in the spring of 2019.

Tomi Salesvuo is a drummer, bandleader, producer and educator based in Helsinki, Finland. Born and raised Lappeenranta Finland, Salesvuo has been an avid student of the drums since his early childhood. After graduating from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Salesvuo’s performances with Wayne Krantz, Jim Beard, Benny Golson, Peter Weniger, Nils Landgren and Inaki Sandoval have played an important role in Tomi’s career. Locally, Salesvuo has played and recorded with groups such as XL, Bitter Sweet, How Many Sisters & Kirmo Lintinen trio, Suomi Solmu and the UMO Jazz Orchestra. Tomi has performed and/or recorded with top Finnish artists like Pekka Pohjola, Heikki Silvennoinen, Severi Pyysalo, Jukka Perko, Jukka Eskola, Pekka Kuusisto, Osmo Ikonen, Anna-Mari Kähärä and Jonna Tervomaa. Tomi Salesvuo teaches at the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences as an assistant professor. In addition to performing internationally, Salesvuo has taught drum set master classes in many european countries, as well as in the USA and Canada.
