ThePapersnakes are a St.

Albans based singer/songwriting duo of Paul Kerr (vocals/guitar) and Chris Ward (vocals/bass).

The band is focused on writing and performing original material and original songs have featured in every performance from the start.

Drawing together an eclectic mix of influences including Rock, Pop, Funk, Ska and Reggae their songs have a real variety – from the thumping rock of “Beast in the East”, through the classic funk sound of “Do the Walk” to the radio-friendly acoustic pop of “Glimmer of Hope” : there’s no such thing as a “typical” ThePapersnakes song.

Performances are mainly as an acoustic duo but ThePapersnakes also perform in a three-piece band format (with drums) and full-on electric guitar & bass.

In early 2016, they performed their first live, acoustic radio session on local radio (Radio Verulam) and have since become regular performers on the Station and their songs are frequently played.

In May 2017, they released their latest CD, the “Red Jeans” EP, which features three original songs, including the popular song “Glimmer of Hope”. ThePapersnakes are regular performers on their local acoustic/songwriting scene, and are often invited to play at many the local organised events (Larks in the Parks Festival. St. Albans Food and Drink Festival, IOFringe Festival).

In the summer of 2017, as part of a live performance at the St. Albans IOFringe Festival, they worked on a collaboration with another local singer/songwriter (Beth Hedges) from which they recorded and released the original song “Hero”.

In August 2017 they played the acoustic stage at the first Meraki Music Festival.

In December 2017 they were online-broadcast and recorded performing an eight song set on Plasma Music TV.

The duo have recently been interviewed and played live on BBC Three Counties Radio and BBC Cambridgeshire,

Quotes

“I have watched these guys grow and develop over the last couple of years and delighted to see their original music taking shape and them being inspired by the local scene. Stonking bass lines, vocals with a twinkle in the eye. Fabulous enthused performances The Papersnakes have definitely got something special going on..”

Denise Parsons “The Parsons Knows Local Music”, Radio Verulam
