The Filth Hounds were formed in 2011 and are based in North East England.

The band currently comprises;

Bryan McGill – Lead Vocals and Guitars
John Allom – Bass and Backing Vocals
Liam Mulpetre - Guitars and Backing Vocals
Kristoffer Wylie – Drums and Percussion

The Filth Hounds started gigging around the north east of England in early 2012, playing their own brand of original melodic hard rock/ metal songs, and within a short space of time the band had won a heat of a local ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition. With this success, The Filth Hounds had won the opportunity to release a download single through EmuBands, via a variety of online sites.

The single was released on 25/06/12 and is called “Too Damn Good/Hooked On Love”. It was recorded in May 2012 at Blast Recordings in Newcastle and has received airplay around the world, on stations including Hard Rock Radio Live, Rock 365 Radio, Bullspike Radio and Metal Express Radio to name but a few. The band are also a regular on ‘The Autopsy Report’ Metal Show which is broadcast on a number of radio stations around the World.

As part of the ‘Metal 2 the Masses’ Roadshow 2013, The Filth Hounds played gigs around the country including Nambucca in London and The Riverside in Selby. 2014 got off to a flying start as the band played with Andro Coulton's ZXY (ex-Witchfynde) at the official BroFest(UK)#2 warm up show and were then special guests of NWOBHM legends Battleaxe at their Bloodstock warm up gig.

Following the departure of guitarist Nigel Pickett in 2014, The Filth Hounds very quickly recruited Danny Joseph into the band. Danny had an excellent musical pedigree having studied popular music at Newcastle Performance Academy and playing with local band Killin Space. Unfortunately Danny's tenure with the band would be short lived as he would go on to join Falling Red in early 2015, but not before co-writing 2 of the bands most iconic songs, Attack! and Dead Man's Eye, with Bryan McGill.

Bryan had played with bands like Dr Wott? and Lazy in the 80’s and Sharp Exit in the 90’s as well as a band called Crossfire in which he first met and played alongside John Allom. Bryan and John wouldn’t play together again for 16 years. John has played in other local bands including Monkey Tennis, which has included some of the most accomplished north east guitarists during various line-ups.

When original drummer Damian Donnelly left at the end of 2014 the band recruited Kris Wylie as their new stick man. Kris is a music graduate from Sunderland College. During 2015 and early 2016, 3XC guitarist Reef Kayoss provided some serious 'shredding', on the fret board, for the Hounds, but his time with the band was only ever on a temporary basis. However it was also during this period that saw The Filth Hounds agree a promotional and distribution deal with Vyper Records and their debut album, 'Release the Hounds' is now available worldwide on CD and download.

Stephen Durrant briefly took on lead duties in 2016 before Liam Mulpetre completed the current line up in Autumn of that year. Liam is a graduate from Newcastle University where he studied Contemporary and Popular Music. He cut his teeth in local bands called Dead Legacies and Entity, before becoming a full time Hound. 2016 also saw the band share the stage with acts like THE GRAHAM BONNET BAND, JESS COX, GIRLSCOOL, ROCK GODDESS, VENOM INC, TOKYO BLADE, BLITZKRIEG, WITCHFYNDE, CLOVEN HOOF, JAGUAR, PERSIAN RISK, MYTHRA, CHROME MOLLY, DEMON & CHARIOT.

The gigs continued to come thick and fast during 2017 and the band played several festivals along side bands including AVENGER, TYSONDOG, MILLENNIUM, THE CLAN, SYTERIA, BERNIE TORME & OLIVER/DAWSON SAXON to name but a few. The Filth Hounds also headlined DenFest IV at The Rock Den in Hatfield.

2018 was a big year for The Filth Hounds following a label agreement with PURE STEEL RECORDS, in Germany, and the release of their second album 'Hair of the Hound?', in November.
