The Zürich-based band combines their disparate cultural and musical backgrounds into a unique fusion of indie rock and indie pop, ranging from stomping rock anthems to more subtle ambient tunes.
Founded in 2010, the band has played more than 100 live shows by now. In 2012 THE BIRTHDAY GIRLS found themselves taking the Swiss Rock Highway competition’s 1st Prize and a few months later won a slot to play on stage at the prestigious Swiss Gurten Festival. In January 2013 they were invited by the world famous BBC Radio to the UK for a live session and interview on air.
Their new album, released in April 2016, is entitled “Distillates of Ackerwis” and represents the destillation process of their songs during their retreats in the farmhouse "Ackerwis" in Eastern Switzerland. It is available on online platforms such as on iTunes and Amazon.
The Birthday Girls are Best Talent of the Swiss national radio station SRF3 and are among the nominees for the Swiss Music Awards 2016.
