Alone on stage, surrounded by a dozen instruments and with her voice, the Portuguese eclectic composer shapes her own language and her own sonic universe and her debut "Antwerpen" in 2017 was nominated by IMPALA as Best Independent European Album of the year. From 2017 to 2019 she played from New York to Guangzhou, From Sao Paulo to Reikjavik, from Macao to Ljubljana, from NOS Primavera Sound to London’s 100 Club, from Eurosonic to SxSW. In just three years Surma toured all over 18 countries.
After that, plans ruined with the pandemic, she composed for theater, cinema, prepared concerts for babies, recorded an album with a band formed by cerebral palsy users (5a Punkada) and prepared her new stuff for her comeback record.
Over this summer months of 2022 Surma has taken her solo show and DJ sets to festivals across the globe, from South Korea (Deagu International Music Week) to US (NYC Central Park) and Europe (including Europavox in France and Sziget in Hungary).
ISLET is the first single (and has a radio edit and a stunning awarded video) from the new record "AllA" (out November 4th), an album with with several features from musicians with background in Classical, Punk, Jazz, World or Techno.
SURMA is, indeed, building something unique.
