Rykarda Parasol is a critically acclaimed multi-dimensional artist known to most as a singer/songwriter and performing musician (vocals, piano, and guitar).

Ms. Parasol has been a working musician since 2006 with her own band as well as other artists in the USA, Germany, and Poland. Most notably her music was featured in the international Polish film, The Suicide Hall and her songwriting for the Polish pop artist, Misia fF, won her a nomination for the esteemed Fryderyki awards. Her work is often described as "Folk Rock Noir" and her poetic lyrics have garnered favorable comparisons to Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Edith Piaf, and Johnny Cash – as well as authors such as William Faulkner and Christina Rossetti. Her mode is an electric mix that combines vintage sounds of Murder Ballad, French Pop, Motown, and Brit-mod-rock with dashes of Jacques Dutronc and The Brian Jonestown Massacre for good measure!

Since 2006, Parasol has released four highly acclaimed full-length solo albums with various record labels such as Glitterhouse (DE), Interbang (DE), Warner (PL), Three Dog (NL), and Three Ring (USA). Her music collaborations have ranged from recording to performing vocals with both popular and classical musicians as well as artwork and creative direction. She has also been the lead singer and co-songwriter of the Warsaw band, Heart & Soul. Ms. Parasol has performed at countless international music festivals such as Vienna’s Blue Bird and the Open’r in Gdansk, PL and museum concerts at The Van Gogh Museum (NL) and The Museum of Natural Sciences (SF, CA). As headliner, Ms. Parasol and her band have toured extensively throughout Germany, Italy, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, France, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Israel, Greece and the United States. Ms. Parasol is currently working on new recordings (TBA 2019), which are in collaboration with France-based and French language writers and poets to be recorded in Paris.

Born and raised in San Francisco, CA, Ms. Parasol studied literature and writing at university. She is otherwise a self-trained songwriter and known as a unique independent artist outside of academic guidelines. She is a lover of all things poetry and wordy.

Known as a strong lyricist, Ms. Parasol’s writing extends beyond musical work, which has lead to forays in poetry and fiction accompanied by her illustration. A recent book of poetry, An Object of Pleasure, combines musical tones intertwined with her gangly illustration. Said illustrations were later exhibited at the Z Space Performing Arts Gallery and the book itself featured at Shakespeare & Co, Paris.

Ms. Parasol’s self-designed album art has garnered several design awards and as result, she has been sought out by other Pop and Rock musicians for her assistance in print and web design. She has designed album art for 16 Deluxe, Skip Holiday, and Sandoland, as well as design logos for Misia fF and posters and t-shirts for bands Elephone, The Trail of Dead, and Veil Veil Vanish among others.

Ms. Parasol’s notable performances have included: SXSW (Austin, TX), Open'er Festival (PL), The Van Gogh Museum (NL), The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (San Francisco, CA), PopKomm (DE), The Orange Blossom Festival (DE), Festival Ars cameralis (PL), Plissken Festival (GR), and the Austin Music Network. Ms. Parasol has also shared billing with notables such as Frank Black, Concrete Blonde, Jolie Holland, Brokedown Social Scene, Trail of Dead, and Thomas Dutronc amoung others. She has sung backup for the American comedian, Margret Cho
