Bio

Root Sixty-Nine ist eine junge Band aus Zürich. Basierend auf Blues hat sich die Band seither auch in andere Stile wie Rock'n'Roll, Boogie Woogie oder Funk bewegt und wartet nun mit einer breiten Palette an musikalischem Angebot auf.
Die Gründung der Gruppe erfolgte am 06. September 2013, doch sollte es noch ein paar Monate dauern, bis der passende Name gefunden und die Formation komplett war.
Nebst einigen Privatkonzerten konnten sich die fünf Männer in Anzügen als Nachzügler einen Startplatz im Emergenza Bandwettbewerb 2014 sichern, wo sowohl die Vorrunde als auch das Halbfinale souverän gemeistert wurde. Im anschliessenden Finale im Berner Bierhübeli erspielte sich die Band mit starken 196 Stimmen den Publikumssieg, wodurch sie mit einem Auftritt am Gurtenfestival 2014 belohnt wurde.
Kurz vor diesem Auftritt begann Root Sixty-Nine eine erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit mit dem Zürcher Anzuglabel Sunita Suits. Dank einem exklusiven Sponsoring konnte die Gruppe ihr Markenzeichen weiterhin verfeinern.
Das Resultat dieser Zusammenarbeit und der weiteren musikalischen Entwicklung war ein starker Auftritt am Gurtenfestival, welcher auch in der Presse auf Anklang stiess.
Nach dieser Entwicklung ist die Band auch keineswegs bereit, mit dem Tempo nachzulassen, und während im Hintergrund fleissig an einem Album gearbeitet wird, sind sie am Booking für das nächste Jahr am arbeiten.

Root Sixty-Nine is a young band from Zürich. Originally based on blues, the band has explored other styles and genres, especially rock'n'roll, boogie woogie and funk, and now has a wide musical palette on offer.
The formation was founded on the sixth of September 2013, but it would be a few months before the name was finally chosen and all current members decided.
Starting with no small number of private concerts, it didn't take long until the five men in suits could get a last-minute slot in the Emergenza Band Contest 2014, where after several hands-down victories, they secured the people's choice award at the finals in Berne with 196 votes, which was rewarded by a chance to play in the Gurtenfestival 2014.
Shortly before the openair, Root Sixty-Nine initiated a deal with the Zürich suits label Sunita Suits. Now, thanks to an exclusive sponsorship, the band could refine what had become their trademark on the stage. The result of this work, and of course of the continuing musical development, was a successful concert at the Gurtenfestival, which also led to positive press reviews.
After this, the band is not about to slow down, and, while a first album is being prepared in the background, more concerts are already in planning.
