David Pastor considers himself a workman who has the trumpet as his tool.

He believes more in work than in inspiration, and he considers every style or technique to be worthwhile. His love for the thousands of varieties that jazz and modern music offer was acknowledged in the Enderrock Awards for 2014, when the popular vote considered him the best jazz musician of the year. He was also part of two projects that the jazz aficionadosin Enderrockconsidered the best of the year.

His new release, New Tunes Old Tunes(Omix, 2014) also reflects the versatility of his trumpet. In it we will find, according to David, “new themes for the trio (formed by himself and by José Luis Guar at the piano and Toni Pagès in drums) and also standards, played with guest artists”. Among them we will find Gemma Abrié, who has adapted into Catalan Antonio Carlos Jobim’sÁguas de março, Susana Sheimanplaying Dizzy Gillespie’s Night in Tunisia, Saphye Wells (a new talent with a great future ahead) playingBlue in Greenby Bill Evans and Miles Davis. And there’s a piece with XimoTébar (who is not only a guitarist, he is also the man in charge of Omix records): María from West Side Story (by Leonard Bernstein).
It will be Pastor’s seventh album and his third release with Nu Roots.
This is arésumé of David Pastor’s activities this past year, as well as a short bio, audios and videos.
