Unapologetically honest, profound and hilarious, let us introduce you to the biggest underground Afrikaans rapper in South Africa, Loufi.

Hailing from the same hip-hop scene that birthed the king of Afrikaans rap Early B and the upstart of the year Biggy, the Eastern Cape has produced yet another artist set to shake the foundations of Afrikaans music.
“I was bullied at primary school, and after watching Eminem in 8 Mile I was inspired to follow my musical ambitions. I started freestyling and battle rapping, and I’ve now been making music straight for the last 11 years.”
“I don’t like to be defined by genres. A lot of my music is intended to make you dance and feel good, but there are also songs that are deeper and tug at the emotions. We all go through dark patches, and its ok to not be ok, with my music I want to inspire people to change their mindset, even when things are tough you can still be hopeful and find joy.”
These themes are evident in Loufi’s first single Ek Is Broke. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCxihkJewQA
“Last year the company I worked for closed down and it became a massive struggle for me and my family to survive. I wrote this song during that time, it is about me simply being unable to fake my lifestyle. I think many people can relate to that, trying to cope, waiting for ‘pay-day’. It really was my last shot writing and producing it with the talented Jayms, and so far, it is paying off.”
Loufi is no stranger to working with talented people, he’s been featured on tracks by Biggy and Bouwer Bosch and even worked with Early B.
“Since I was a kid, Early B was my role model, and even though we are now on the same label and I call him for advice all the time, I still treat him as my idol. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to act normal around him! He is the most professional guy I know and has taught me so many things that will stay with me forever.”
While many of Loufi’s dreams are coming true, getting signed to a major record label and working with his childhood idol, there is still a long way to travel for the Port Elizabeth native.
“I’m really driven to get my music out there. On TV, the radio, online, everywhere. I’m also setting my sites outside of SA and would love to tour the Netherlands and break into that market”

Loufi’s story is far from finished, in fact, it is only the beginning.
