Leila releases its new album «Black Roses» and presents a repertoire where the groove is the thread of a soulful sound.

Neosoul, R&B, Hip Hop, Funk, Jazz, Blues and Gospel are the styles that create a fresh sound mix where the vocal harmony prevails. «Black Roses» takes over from the first album, «Influences», the debut with which has made tracks like «Mr.O» and «A Little Bit Bitter» rise to the top positions in the Top 10 of the Soul Spain platform.

Among the new voices that stand at the scene of the national soul, Leila is one of the most suggestive and attractive. Sophisticated, elegant and seductive has presented us their first album for several venues and festivals showing the risky proposition of their live show. Now is the time of «Black Roses» and it looks like it will be one of the albums of reference for lovers of black music.

Leila’s project was born from the need to express years of dedication to music in which both song and lived experiences converge.

It reflects the genres and artists that have accompanied her throughout the years: Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Maceo Parker, Erika Badu, Jill Scott, among many others, of whom she drinks without prejudice to express the way she sees and lives music. The result is an honest project where her personal experiences are the key protagonists; her personal voice strings together the harmony maze and the words resulting from them, paying particular attention to one of her distinctive signs, the vocal harmony.

As Thomas Mann so well put it in his book Death in Venice: «An artist is not only he who dreams, as any other individual does, but he who builds dreams». Leila absorbs this idea and gives it shape, creating a space where her own desires and experiences materialize into an intimate and personal project worthy to sway whoever listens to it.
