The band released its first album, Ay Açılsa (Bgst Records), in November 2019.

A multilingual and polyphonic album, Ay Açılsa features songs of love, as well as stories of the night, sung in Turkish, Greek and Armenian. This innovative album involves a wide range of improvisations, taking the listener on a journey through times in juxtaposition, mixing styles old and new to create a unique sound.

The music of İstanbul Kainat Radyosu undoubtedly derives its strength in part from the unique combination of yaylı tambur (a traditional form of long-necked lute) and trumpet. The group’s distinctive jazz sound comes from Feryal Öney's powerful vocals, Hakan Gürbüz's experimental and improvisational arrangements, and the diverse musical influences of all the band members. Lead singer Feryal Öney is a peerless interpreter of song, whose voice can be as soft as velvet or as resonant as a brass instrument.

The band offers surprising new musical encounters, bringing together piano, trumpet, bass guitar, percussion, and yaylı tambur in the songs of musician and composers including Neşet Ertaş and Gomidas. The aim of the band is to create a musical language that crosses artificial borders and rejects cultural polarization, inviting their audiences to open themselves up to new insights and experiences.
