Mastering the Music Business (MMB, for short) is the leading Romanian music business conference and showcase event, now at its seventh in-person edition (September 5-7, 2023 in Bucharest). Our main focus is offering a framework for musicians, managers, booking agents, promoters and other people in the industry to engage in meaningful interactions with key players on the local and international scene.
With our 7th in-person edition we would like to continue our focus on the international market, organizing the MMB Showcase Festival as an opportunity for up-and-coming Romanian and international acts to develop their presence on the fast-growing Romanian music scene, to establish contacts and to perform in front of industry professionals from all over Europe as well as the Romanian concert-going audience.
Former live acts (both international and local) that played at MMB Showcase Festival got booked for tours in Romania, for similar international festivals (Eurosonic, Live at Heart, BUSH, Musik Messe, Future Echoes) and for club gigs, are presented in international music publications, got signed with booking agencies and even started international collaborations.
We have a total of 10 slots available through gigmit. Selected bands will get to perform a showcase set (30 minutes) at Expirat, one of Bucharest's top live music venues, as part of the conference. Artists and their team members will get 3-day free passes for all the panels and presentations included in the MMB Conference, as well as one seat per artist delegation at any workshop or seminar.
We do not cover any artist fees or travel expenses, but we will reimburse accommodation costs of up to 15 EUR/person for the night of the performance, upon request. Also, catering at the venue will be provided.
FOR A COMPLETE APPLICATION, PLEASE SUBMIT:
- at least 2 videos from live performances (different live performances would be preferred) of the band in their current formula, not older than 1 year. Please make sure video & sound are of good quality and that they are in the top video links in your profile.
- at least 1 official video of the band in their current formula
- official bio in English
- at least 2 photos, both online and print quality
- artist touring dates (for the last 12 and upcoming 12 months)
- artist Facebook page, Instagram profile and YouTube channel
- a link to a relevant music platform (Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Music)
- complete technical & hospitality rider + travel party list
Call for applications will be open until and including February 5. We will let you know if the application has been selected by March 1.
In order to secure your participation at the showcase, after your application has been approved, you should sign the performance agreement no later than March 12.
