Somasu's early years saw him moving from one shelter to another. Spending most of his childhood alone, he found solace in mathematics and poetry. But it wasn't until doing a masters in physics that his life long love for The Beatles, Dylan, Van Morrison and The Velvet Underground blossomed into a passion to make his own music.

Making music offered a way out and artists like Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith and Nick Drake showed the way in.

"My love for poetry and mathematics shape the way I think about words and melodic composition. I want my music to be unpredictable, different and exciting, while still showing small glimpses of familiarity."
