She grew up in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, Ireland, listening to pop music and doing as much acting and musical theatre as she could, learning piano and guitar along the way. She went on to study music at Trinity College Dublin, majoring in Music technology. Since graduating, Emma has been a musical chameleon, involved in Funk, Folk, Gospel, Choral and Contemporary Classical scenes, and even writing for Theatre. Over the years, Emma recorded, produced and released several EPs and stand alone singles herself before stepping into the studio in 2014 to create PURGE, a short collection of songs with an orchestral sound, which saw her compared to the likes of Kate Bush, I Have a Tribe, Tori Amos and Cathy Davey.
In the last two years, Emma has released her acclaimed EP "Fractures" and has been gigging very actively all over the UK and Ireland, and growing her international presence with gigs in New York, Toronto, and a composer's residency in the VICC in Sweden. Recently Emma has relocated to the UK where she continues to perform, write and inspire.
Press Quotes:
Emma can switch from dramatic to pop to folk to rock without ever compromising the quality of the finished track. “Fractures” is an incredible EP and is bound to catapult Emma to even bigger things.
Dave McMahon, Street Ceol
Emma has clearly created a little niche for herself to create music that is beautiful and bursting with colourful fragments of wonderful art.
Danu, Indie Buddie
If you are looking for one of the most original-sounding Irish EP releases from the past few months then look no further than Emma O'Reilly's truly delightful Fractures...I can't quite put my finger on this EP, it's too hard to pigeon-hole or describe in a small few words, apart from mind-blown.
Remy Connolly, Remy's Film and Music Blog
A captivating E.P...a refreshing change to the mundane pop that is pumped into the music charts these days. There is so much emotion [in] Emma’s songs; In ‘Cervantes’, Emma’s voice is...haunting, and genuinely gave me the chills whilst listening to it. I had to pause for a moment because I was just in awe of how pure her voice was.
