Death/Thrash/Melodic Metal w/ Rock n’ Roll attitude!

The band has shared the stage with Kataklysm, Vader, Apocalyptica, Heaven Shall Burn, Unleashed, Soilwork, Krisiun, Primordial, Suffocation, Gorefest, In Extremo, God Dethroned, Hail of Bullets, Dismember, Sinister, Mayhem, Loudblast, Dagoba just to mention some.

Desdemonia’s latest and fourth longplayer “Anguish” has been released worldwide on the 23rd March 2018 via Denmark’s premier metal label Mighty Music.
In Japan, the album is out on Bickee Music.

Legendary Swedish producer Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Hammerfall, Architects, …) has mixed and mastered the 9 new songs at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden to give the album the massive, aggressive yet clear sound it deserves.

On their new record, the quartet yet again combines catchiness with raw, vicious riffage and grim weighty vocals, while more quiet and melodic moments give their music the right dynamics. The aggressive and gloomy atmosphere is being underlined by lyrics that explore the fears and dark thoughts of the human mind.

In summer of 2018, a full-length documentary movie “Desdemonia – Cross the Line” with live music & interviews on the Luxembourgish metal scene is out on Amazon Prime.

Over the last two decades, the pioneers of the small but lively Luxembourgish metal scene have built up a strong fan base in the metal underground, releasing a demo and four studio albums.

Desdemonia are excited to share their powerful new album with new fans and to conquer new territories; determined to put their mark on the death metal scene.

Comments on Desdemonia’s music:

"The BeNeLux quartet (. . . ) lets the genre-wheel roll in all possible directions, without any limitations and with a lot of freshness. Typical patterns of the death metal genre are simply steamrolled"
- RockHard Magazine

"Desdemonia will blow you away"- Legacy Magazine

"Existence is an album that sounds surprisingly mature, that needs to be heard in constant rotation and that never gets boring"- neckbreaker.de

"This death metal opus doesn't need to hide behind the big names like Bolt Thrower & Co. It's aggressive as well as groovy"- Eternity Music Zine

“Desdemonia makes you wanna bang your head, drink a beer and bang more head all at the same time. Heavy groovy metal which makes you wanna hear more!”- Michiel van der Plicht (God Dethroned)

Long version:

Take old school death metal, add a healthy dose of rocking groove, a pinch of thrash and round it up with a lot of melody… and you'll get the essence of Desdemonia.

Founded in Luxembourg in 1994 by guitarist Marc Dosser and drummer Tom Michels and being completed by Stefano De Angelis on guitars and vocals and by Tom Dosser on the bass guitar in 1995, Desdemonia was among the first bands in the Luxembourg metal scene to bring this kind of music to the people; at a time when live metal shows were virtually non-existent. The “Desdemonia train” began to roll after their first ever live show in 1996 (support gig for Pagan Lorn, another well known local band in Luxembourg's first ever concert-only venue, the Atelier in Luxembourg-City) and so and many other gigs followed. Because of many good reviews in the international metal-press the band became the first Luxembourgian band performing on international festivals.
During the same time the four band mates recorded a first semi-professional demo tape Infinity’s Regard. Shortly after the release in early 1997 the tape had been sold over 300 times.

The first full-length album Same got released in 1998. Shortly afterwards, Stefano left the band and was replaced by Oli Scheek on the guitars. Tom Dosser took over the vocals. Still, the album helped Desdemonia to get opening slots for more famous metal bands in Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany and other even more interesting slots on international festivals.

The second album Paralyzed, which was released in 2001, was also received very well by the fans and the music press alike. It gave the band the opportunity for continuous gigging in different parts of Europe, participation on samplers of major press magazines and distribution in many countries like Brazil, Russia, USA, or even Japan.

Due to the non-stop gigging and a small hiatus because of the studies and jobs of the band members, it took 9 more years until the they were able to come back with a third album entitled Existence, which was released in Luxembourg's biggest venue to date, the Rockhal in Esch/Alzette in 2010.

Over all these years, these three albums enabled Desdemonia to play a lot of interesting gigs and opening slots for bigger bands like Soilwork, Krisiun, Gorefest, Hail Of Bullets, Apocalyptica, Dying Fetus, Hades, Mayhem or Enthroned, just to name a few.
In 2012, Desdemonia celebrated their 15th anniversary with an exceptional show at the Kulturfabrik in Esch/Alzette, another very famous venue for metal shows. The presence of numerous friends, fans and bands, many of whom had supported and shared great moments over these 15 years made this a truly overwhelming event.

By the end of 2012, guitarist Oli left the band for personal reasons. Almost a year later he was replaced by David Wagner.

Thus being the longest existing metal band in Luxembourg, the members of Desdemonia have never stopped keeping their music fresh and inspiring and also have never tried to keep pace with changing trends but instead attempted to cut their own path, creating a very unique mix of death metal, melodic death metal, thrash metal, groove metal and balls to the wall hard rock.

Confident about their new material and with unbroken passion for the music of their roots, the four musicians recorded their material in spring/summer of 2017.

Looking for a massive sound, the band got in touch with legendary Swedish producer Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Hammerfall, Architects and many more). He mixed and mastered the 9 new songs at his Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden and gave the album the aggressive yet clear sound it deserves.

After negotiating with some record companies that were interested in their new material, Desdemonia finally chose to sign a worldwide record deal with Denmark’s premier metal label Mighty Music in late 2017.

Influenced by the early and mid-nineties American and European death metal scene, Desdemonia‘s sound can be described as a mix of catchy stuff like Amon Amarth, straight forward At The Gates-like beats and more old school oriented melodies and groove in the vein of Dissection or Bolt Thrower. However, Desdemonia never try to keep pace with changing trends but cut their own path instead.
