Despite the recent beginning of creative life, the group
is already quite famous not only in native St. Petersburg,
but also far beyond it. Cats Park has performed at prestigious
Russian and European festivals, they were chosen to open
for British band Morcheeba, representatives of Bristol sound,
Lamb, and the conceptual band Archive for their Russian tours.
Cats Park have arisen as result of the creative experiments
of Alexey Andreyev (the guitar, keyboard, bass) and singer
Yulia Khudyakova (Faijee). Alexey is responsible for the
sound, musical and stylistic components, and Yulia for lyrics
and the voice.
According to the Rolling Stone magazine «it is easiest to define
Cats Park as guitar trip hop», although there is something
in their music for all variety of listeners to find. The musicians
communicate with listeners by a universal language of beautiful
and flowing melodies and slow, smooth rhythm.
When performing live Cats Park appear in various roles,
in a form of a capacious trio or, for example, in an expanded
structure, with string and wind instruments. The group play
practically without a single movement, but with surprising
internal dynamics which completely entices the listener.
