Their music is characterized by dynamic compositions, intricate arrangements, and emotionally profound themes, drawing inspiration from a diverse array of influences, including Porcupine Tree, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Leprous, Tesseract, and Karnivool.

The band’s roots trace back to Kruševac, where founding members Aleksa (vocals) and Uroš (guitar) played together in various bands since elementary school. Driven by their shared passion for music, particularly progressive metal, they relocated to Belgrade, where they connected with drummer Timur, bassist Vasily, and guitarist Aleksandar in 2023.

Black Idol won third place in the On The Music Waves - International Song Contest with their song "Son of No Desire", which serves as the lead single from their upcoming debut EP. The song was mixed by Linus Corneliusson and mastered by Tony Lindgren of Fascination Street Studios.

In November 2024, the band released "The Great Triumph", the second single from their debut EP, Woes Are Legion. "The Great Triumph", along with the rest of the songs on the EP, was produced by Aleksandar Bojković, mixed by Ricardo Borges, while Tony Lindgren remained the mastering engineer. The recording was done at studio Strip by Aleksandar Bojković, Dino Bakić and Mina Miljanić. Woes Are Legion is set to be released in its entirety in early 2025.
