Folk, chanson and jazz with a tint of Scandinavian gloominess are some of the compounds that bring forth Helsinki based singer Aino Venna.

Venna started her musical career as a solo performer in 2010 but soon a band formed around her. Their debut album Marlene was released Autumn 2012 and Venna rose to the peak of the new wave of the Finnish singer and songwriters alongside Mirel Wagner and Yona.

Venna started her musical career as a solo performer in 2010 but soon a band formed around her. Their debut album Marlene was released Autumn 2012 and Venna rose to the peak of the new wave of the Finnish singer and songwriters alongside Mirel Wagner and Yona.

The album's first single Suzette was released in summer 2012 and the song that Venna sang in French received a warm welcome from the audience. It was awarded Radio Helsinki's Summer Hit-title and played on National Radio, Radio Suomi top 40 over four months. The album itself received also great response from the critics and the audience, the Finnish music magazine Rumba gave it full five stars and Venna was invited to a very popular talk show hosted by Arto Nyberg. Album was later released also in Germany by Beste!Unterhaltung, in both CD and vinyl.

As for the music, Venna flirts with chanson and old rock'n roll as well as you hear influences of italo pop. The lyrics take from past time, literature and old films. Aino Venna has also been influenced by Paris, which shows not only from her choice of language but also the Parisian charm that she seems to have. Amusez-vous!
