Zord Short Info

The Hungarian band named Zord was formed in October 2000. The name Zord is a Hungarian word that means “austere” or “bleak” in English. In the Hungarian rock and metal scene it is trendy to write and sing songs with Hungarian lyrics under English band names, but these guys often goes against the stream so they set out on an inverse way. The purpose was to teach foreign rockers one single Hungarian word, but write their lyrics in English, so wherever they go, their thoughts, Zord songs can be understood easily.

“Disasters Grind! Powerful thrash metal with unique tastes from Hungary! Zord is one of the most talented English-spoken metal bands from Central and Eastern Europe! Ten devastating, high power, guitar oriented songs, and an acoustic piece entitled “Black Petals”, which is one of the more complex written acoustic songs delivered by any thrash band…

…This is definitely one of the most talented thrash acts out there still today. It’s a shame that countries like Hungary, Lithuania, and Latvia don't get the same attention that some European countries do, as its becoming increasingly aware that the music from those countries is of the best in the entire continent.” – Disasters Grind album review (Heathen Harvest – USA - 2008)

In 2014 in addition to domestic club shows the horde returned to Transylvania for another three-show tour, along with several club actions in Budapest and across Hungary the fourth Zord Rock Camp was taken place in July, and the band successfully appeared again on a bunch of summer festivals in Hungary and in the Highlands (Slovakia) as well.

The second full-length Zord album entitled “Thorns & Wounds” was released on 2nd December, 2013.

“The result is, in its spontaneous essence, really noticeable: you must give those metalheads from East-Europe a chance that they fully deserve.” - Thorns & Wounds album review (Rock Hard Italy - 2014)

"This Is Really A Hidden Thrash Metal Diamond!!!" - Thorns & Wounds album review (Rock Overdose – Greece)

“Thorns & Wounds’ sounds like the setlist of a cool concert.” - Thorns & Wounds album review (Lords of Metal – The Netherlands - 2014)

“…I’ll warn you now, if you heard this on the radio, you’ll be bouncing off the walls to it. ALL HAIL ZORD!!!! - Thorns & Wounds album review (Vendetta Metal Magazine – Finland - 2014)

“It's a pleasant surprise, and ZORD is, in my opinion, one of the spearheads of a country that is not typically spoken about in terms of Metal.” - Thorns & Wounds album review (Metal Invasion, France - 2014)

“…for example, the title song is very powerful. “Pedal to the Metal” is an instrumental track, filled with breakneck riffs; and it is followed by “Lone Death” backed by screaming choruses. There is no time to take a single breath in the course of the following three songs. “Gazing into the Sun” and “The Thundersmith” unambiguously prove that there aren’t any filler tracks even at the end of the album.” - Thorns & Wounds album review (HammerWorld – Hungary - 2014)

After a bunch of domestic club gigs the band kicked off its Transylvanian (Romania) and Highlands (Slovakia) tour in the spring of 2014. It was followed by several summer festival appearances, and the 10-date second leg of the Thorns & Wounds club tour got underway in Fall 2014.

At present the band is working on the third Zord full-length album to be released in December, 2015.
