YUSA The international and national press still presenting the virtuous vocalist, guitarist, pianist, bassist and percussionist cuban musician Yusa as "the new wave of Cuban music” and beyond that, some of the critics says: “ Yusa is the Cuba music; no doubt about it.

(…) the Cuban diva of jazz, rumba and bossa”( Cuba Contemporánea).

Yusa lives between La Havana, Cuba and Buenos Aires, Argentina, but she tours the world: England, Holland, France, Norway, Belgium, Japan, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Portugal, are under many countries she has been. Her agenda in 2011 include tours to Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Japan, Noruega, Suiza …

Nowadays YUSA is one of the most powerful “for export” Cuban songwriters. She tours
without interruption for six to seven months a year to Asia, Europe and Latin America. Her
records are published in more than 15 countries. She has signed with Blue Note Club and
Yamaha Music and Visual as a jazz artist, and splits her life between Cuba and Argentina,
residing in both countries, since 2009.
She is jury in the class of “Tres”, a Cuban typical instrument, at Instituto Superior de Arte in
La Habana. Yusa was actually the first woman on the island who got a degree as “tresera”
The ways of life and music led her to compose music and become an unique multi-
instrumentalist, playing the electric bass, double bass, guitar, tres, percussion ... and we
(tres player), as well as being graded on “classical guitar”.
could keep counting for long.
Yusa’s five recording projects are “Yusa” (2002), “Breathe” (2004), “Haiku” (2008), “Vivo”
(2010) and “Libro de cabecera en tardes de café” (2012). All these albums were released in
Europe, Cuba, Japan, Brazil and Argentina. She also has recorded a DVD in one of the most
prestigious jazz clubs in the world, by the name “Yusa live at Ronnie Scott's” (London,
England).

Yusa is the winner of two CubaDisco awards, a Grand CubaDisco (the highest award a
musician can receive on the island), and a Latin Grammy for the DVD “Lenine in Cité” as Best
Brazilian Contemporary Album and Best Song. She was nominated for “Best Alternative
guitarist” at the Bath International Awards (UK). She achieved the 10th place in the European
World Music Chart with her record "Yusa". She was nominated in two categories at WOMEX
2002, Best New Artist and Best Latin-American Artist. Since 2001, Yusa has been touring in
Europe and Asia. In 2008, she visited Argentina for first time.
Invited by the BLUE NOTE company, Yusa visits Japan every year since 2005 and presents
her shows at the Blue Note and Cotton Jazz Club in Tokyo. All her albums have been
released in Japan by the Yamaha Music & Visuals and Omagatoky Records.
