There’s a tradition in the north that directions are always given in terms of iconic landmarks –Public Houses - and it was in one of these said Failsworth establishments in north east Manchester early in March 2011 that the guys from Y Key Operators met, discussed, enthused and formed.

With just a few changes from the early days the 5 piece band comprise of Woz on lead vocals & lyrics, Jimbo on guitar & backing vocals, Malc on keyboards, Nathan on drums, ably accompanied in the rhythm section by Kwif on bass.

Prolific songwriters, their identifiable and accessible style has become perfectly crafted and balanced behind strong bass lines, guitar riffs, slick keyboards, and thought provoking lyrics. Live performances only go to enhance the fast growing reputation of Y Key Operators as on stage they demonstrate their musical mastery and consistency.

In true Manchester ‘the message is in the music’, the band would like to say: YKO – Formed a band – Gigs – demo – Signed with Shedhead Records – S’appnin. Nuff said
