Syd dePalma, the Barcelona-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and electro nic producer, unveils his distinctive sound with the release of his debut album, "El Lugar de Arder," under the Spanish label Raso Estudio on September 15.
"El Lugar de Arder" marks a bold debut, blending Mediterranean and flamenco influences with futuristic sounds, creating a rich tapestry of experimental pop, psychedelic rock, fla menco, post-punk, and contemporary electronics. The album's synthesis of traditional instruments and rhythms with modern production techniques is a testament to dePalma's unique vision.
Recorded primarily in Berlin's Kreuzberg neighborhood, known for its cultural diversity, and completed in Granada, the album reflects contrasting influences. Collaborating with renowned Spanish mixer Carlos Díaz, dePalma captures the essence of both cities, infu sing the album with a blend of darkness and light.
As the alter ego of Barcelona-based musician Milton Castellar, dePalma has performed at prestigious venues and festivals, including Mutek Festival (Barcelona) and Tycho's Prima vera Sound tour. His versatility as both a live performer and DJ has garnered attention both locally and internationally.
