Soy Emilia is much more than a musical project, is the creative soul of Juanita Carvajal, a talented Colombian bassist, singer, producer and songwriter who has left an indelible mark on the Latin alternative scene.

(Nidia Góngora, Julio Victoria, Esteman). Since its genesis in 2017, Juanita gave life to the character of Soy Emilia as a vehicle to share her most intimate and profound compositions.

Her music is built from stories of everyday life, giving her a real and colloquial language in her lyrics, with which the public can identify their own stories and connect. The musical arrangements provide a contemporary and dynamic language expressed within the Electro Dance genre, which is why we find songs with repeating choruses linked to instrumental sections where Juanita develops live between synthesizers and electric bass, creating layers over drum machine loops to immerse the audience in a trance state through dance

In 2019, released her first full album, "Reconstrucción". This album earned him important recognition, including the award for Best New Artist at the 2020 Latin Grammys and nominations for various international awards. In addition, her music was synchronized in Netflix series and in the Mexican film "No Por Que Me Enamoro", where she also debuted on the big screen. With an impressive debut, "Reconstrucción" obtained more than a million and a half views in its first week and marked the beginning of a series of successful concerts in Colombia and Mexico such as Semana de las Juventudes CDMX, Hermoso Ruido COL, Circuito Indio MX .

The year 2020 was a period of adaptation for Soy Emilia, with the cancellation due to the pandemic of live events where it was part of the lineup at festivals such as Glastonbury and Estéreo Picnic. However, she took advantage of this time to focus on the recording of new projects, including singles with Cero39 and her second studio album, in collaboration with prominent musicians such as Julián Salazar (Mitú and Bomba Estéreo).

2021 and 2022, residing in Mexico was a strategic step to consolidate her career. The release of her second album, "Agridulce", led her to perform at international festivals such as Sonorama Ribera in Spain, as well as perform her own concerts in Bogotá and Mexico City. The album was also acclaimed for its inclusion in a Mexican film.

For 2023, Soy Emilia renewed her presence in the electronic scene by remixing its songs on the Ep "Pasados Futuros" and creating its dj set format. Likewise with a new Live Act with the well-known electronic musician Sonique from the Bogotá scene. In 2024, Soy Emilia starts on a high note with concerts and DJ sets in Mexico and Colombia while she finishes producing her new EP "Ecdisis".
