It's no easy matter writing a bio for a band like The So And So's.

To be fair, i'm not sure there are any bands like The So And So's. They are a musical ensemble that have embraced countless genres, created catalogue after catalogue of effortlessly brilliant songs and, at some stage, recruited just about every musician in Cleethorpes and a fair few from Manchester as well.

Their story one of an eclectic and ever evolving collective underpinned by one constant; it's chaotic genius Richard Dutton. As front-man and song-writer Dutton has led, and when necessary dragged, his band along a kaleidoscopic trail of music styles, veering from bittersweet acoustic pop one moment to avent garde pyschedelia the next. And of course, for a band who have been so difficult to pin down over the years, mainstream success has naturally eluded the so far.. But 2016 sees The So And So's on the front foot, with a settled line up, a new album and renewed sense of purpose.

Now based in his hometown Cleethorpes, Dutton has streamlined his outfit to it's bare bones, operating strictly as a tree piece with Danny Thomas (bass) and Reece Petts (drums.) It has allowed The So And So's to carve out a tighter sound, while still drawing on the wealth of ideas and influences that produced such prolific song-writing down the years.

Due to record their latest album with Sam Calton (Orphan Boy, The Accord) in the coming weeks, and with new materil already winning support from the likes of BBC Introducing's Alan Raw, the band believe that this year could finally see them achieve the recognition their talents deserve.

-Alan Raw (BBC INTRODUCING)

“One of the best live performances I have ever seen. Brilliant stage presence, catchy songs and the raucous crowd are firmly within Dutton's pocket.”
-The Leeds Scenester

“Richard Dutton is leading the pack as an exciting new performer, writes his own enigmatic songs, sings them in his own inimitable style, it’s a privilege to work with such a brimming talent, his originality knows no bounds.”
-Boz Boorer (Morrissey/Polecats)
