Fronted by the powerful Shambhu Leroux, Shambhu and the True Love Hearts summon up a luscious brew of underground gospel and lost blues, nailed down with garage guitar and spooky organ.

Long-time psychobilly fans will well remember a rowdy bunch called The Sin City Circus Ladies. They've been gone from the scene for many years, but anyone who saw them has a vivid memory of the notorious vocalist Shambhu Leroux, a 6 foot tall snarling stack of curves and unrestrained passion. After a long break from performing, she is back, with a talented new band and a very different direction: traditional gospel and blues, as Shambhu and the True Love Hearts. Their August show at Berghain was a thrill from the first note, filling the room with a massive and haunting sound that clearly captured the hearts of everyone in the room, with Shambhu's voice ranging from a lost shimmer to a stunning roar, solidly supported by a tight and rocking foursome.
