“Toeing the line between excitement and disenchantment.” Seatbelts began life in late 2017.

The name was coined when James Madden and Ryan Murphy pondered what 'The Beatles' would spell out backwards over an intoxicated phone call. After a few garbled reverse attempts, a comprehensible word arrived: 'Seatbelts'. “The connotations around seat belts fitted so well with our current technology fried brains; feelings of restriction and automation. So we went with that.” says James Madden.

Featuring the talents of Hooton Tennis Club members Ryan Murphy and James Madden, this side project of sorts has been a key feature of Liverpool's live music scene in 2018. With a multitude of headline and supporting gigs across the city following the release of their debut EP 'Songs for Vonnegut'. Here are songs that offer social commentary and explore what its like to exist in this 21st Century technological age. Often compared to Talking Heads - their music is ecclectic with members swapping places to sing their own songs.

New single 'Content Crush' is out 6th December 2018 on Rooftop Records.
