‘Grammy Artist’ BlaaZé, the pioneer of Independent Rap in India, grew up in Zambia where he resided for over 25 years, before shifting base to India.

On the world’s first Sanskrit Hip Hop Band:
BlaaZé teamed up with Music Director and bassist Paul Jacob, to create the world’s first Sanskrit Hip Hop Band, Rap Bhakthi Mala, featuring veena maestro Rajhesh Vaidhya and drummer Jeoraj George, amongst others. With an aim to spread the positive vibrations of Sanskrit syllables through hip hop and rap, BlaaZé has also become the world’s first Rapper to rap the entire poem of the Syamala Dandakkam, written by Mahakavi Kalidas (his first poem), in the 4th century.

Awarded MTV's Youth Icon award 2009, for his songs on social issues, BlaaZé had his first Radio show at the age of 20, on Radio Icengelo in Kitwe, Zambia, called, ‘The Sunshine Special.’

On returning to his hometown, Chennai, in South India, BlaaZé was pleasantly surprised to get the call from none other than double Oscar and double Grammy Winning Music Composer A R Rahman, with whom he collaborated and continues to deliver several blockbuster hits, including two songs as a lyricist/rapper on Oscar and Grammy Award winning soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire and Vince Vaughn’s, ‘Couple’s Retreat.’

From the BnB song in Bunty Aur Babli for Amitabh Bachchan, to the BABA Rap for superstar Rajnikanth, BlaaZé has worked on over 100 songs, including writing of the official UN Anthem For Poverty, Pray For Me, Brother, with AR Rahman.

In Hollywood, featuring as a lyricist for Michael Bolton, ‘the song Sajna from the album Gems,’ to writing for Nicole Scherzinger and Usher, to collaborating as a Rapper/Lyricist with Coco Lee on the single, ‘No Doubt,’ which went straight to number 1 on the pop charts in 7 countries.

As a Speaker/MC/Host – BlaaZé has flair with words and went on to speak at the prestigious TEDx in an 18-minute non-stop rhyme.

Over the past few years, BlaaZé has been the official MC & Host for the Cavinkare Ability Awards, held in Chennai, and also went on to perform the world’s first, ‘Sign Language Rap.’

As an actor, featuring in his first main role in director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s, ‘Dhruv Natchathira,’ (yet to release) - and cameo roles in Director Shankar’s, ‘Boys,’ and Director Badri’s ‘Thillu Mullu.’
