Ricardo was born in Oporto, Portugal in 2006.

Ricardo started to learn music when he was 7 years old, in “Pedacos de Nos” school, located in Freamunde, Portugal.

In order to pursue studies in music, he joined Artave in the school year of 2018/2019. He was a student of professor Luís Alves.

Ricardo had worked under the baton of the conducters: Roberto Pérez, Nuno Silva, Luís Machado, David Silva, Paulo Silva, Luciano Pereira, Diogo Costa, Rita Castro Blanco, Philippe Ferro, Fernando Marinho, Emílio de César, Francisco Sequeira, Carlos Garcés, Cesário Costa, David Bruchez, Toby Purser and Maxime Tortelier.

Ricardo attended masterclasses with teachers Diethelm Jonas, Jean-Louis Capezzali, Ricardo Lopes, Ralph Van Daal, Nelson Alves, Pedro Ribeiro and Luis Pérez.

In January 2021, Ricardo has released his first composition Valsa No. 1.

In February 2022, Ricardo has joined the Banda de Freamunde which is conducted by Vitor Resende, himself also a composer.

In August 2023, Ricardo took part in Concertgebouworkest Young summer internship, conducted by Andrés Orozco Estrada and with María Dueñas Fernández as violin soloist. There, he also worked with Karin Hendrickson, Ronald Karten, Paulien Weierink-Goossen and Fons Verspaandonk. He performed concerts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at the Konzerthaus in Berlin with Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet", Max Bruch's first concerto for violin and orchestra, "Pictures from an exhibition" by Mussorgsky and a world premiere from Carlijn Metselaar "The muscle that raises the wing".

In March 2024, together with his chamber music group Pathétique Quintet, he won first place in the internal chamber music competition organized by Artave. The Pathétique Quintet is formed by Maria Cruz flute, Ricardo Magalhães oboe, Francisco Barbosa horn, Luciana Araújo bassoon and Sofia Silva clarinet.

In July 2024, together with his chamber music group I’Nomadi Quintet, he won the second place in Prémio Jovens Músicos, a very important competition in Portugal for young musicians, in the intermediate level of chamber music category. The I’Nomadi Quintet is formed by Maria Cruz flute, Ricardo Magalhães oboe, Francisco Barbosa horn, Luciana Araújo bassoon and Duarte Carvalho clarinet.

In August 2024, Ricardo published his first work for wind orchestra with Afinaudio, a Portuguese publisher dedicated to the publication of sheet music.

In September 2024, Ricardo took part in JOF (Jovem Orquestra de Famalicão), an orchestra internship conducted by José Eduardo Gomes, with Máté Szücs as the viola soloist. He performed two concerts at Casa das Artes de Famalicão, with Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony and Béla Bartók’s Viola Concerto.
