Payambó was born in Bogota - Colombia in 2009 by merging folk rhythms of Colombian Atlantic such as garabato, cumbia, mapale, puya and bailes cantaos (among others) also world rhythms such as Rock and Dub, in other words it´s a fusión that has special emphasis in the roots of Colombian folklore and it´s origin.

To this merger we call it " Rocklore".
Payambó just finished their tour "Indio blanco 2016", a promotional tour that took place in Bogotá, Medellín and México. They where invited to participate in the 26th international festival of arts and culture called Quimera, Colombia was invited as the special guest, and positioning Payambó as one of the emerging Colombian bands with great international projection.

Currently Payambó continues to promote their first full-length album titled "Payambó", a phonographic product that seeks to recognize traditional Afro-Colombian music through its mix with Rock and Dub.

Path
Within the path that Payambó has been taking in recent years, we find it important to highlight the recording and release of the video for the single "Locombia" (2012) and a first EP entitled " Bi -Real " (2013) ,also the first independent tour " Oceanico tour” (2014) in the city of Cartagena the second EP titled "Dejando Huella", along with their national tour "Unity Tour" (2016) and the release of their most recent album "PAYAMBÓ", followed by their promotional tour called "Tour del Indio Blanco 2016" in Different cities such as Medellín (Colombia), Bogotá (Colombia), Metepec - Toluca (Mexico), Pachuca - Hidalgo (Mexico) and CDMX (Mexico). They have also participated in major events such as the International Festival of Rock called "Rock al Parque" (Colombia-2016), International Festival of Art and Culture called "Quimera" (Mexico-2016), Rock Festival Rex (Mexico-2016), Festival Hermoso Ruido (2015), La Hora Del Planeta (2011-2012-2013), Eco Yoga Fest (2013), Concierto Una oportunidad para la Paz (2014), Ciclo de conciertos de la fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño (2013 and 2016), finalist at El Monsters del Rock of Subterránica (2015), and several performances at universities and alternative festivals and more, where they have shared the stage with great national and international performers such as Michael Nyman (U.K.), Caramelos de Cianuro (Venezuela), Rey Ruiz (Cuba),Onda Vaga (Argentina), La Charanga Nueva York (USA), Buen Rostro (México), Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Andrea Echeverri, Dr. Krápula, Puerto Candelaria, Chucho Merchan, Burning Caravan, Héctor Buitrago and Cesar López.
Payambó is a musical exponent of Colombian folklore with a strong message of social reality in their songs, they have been invited to be part of several national and international television programs such as Uno más uno TV (Mexico), El Primer café del Canal Capital (2013-2015), Noticiero de las 7 de City Tv , Star al día con las Estrellas de City Tv, Noticiero del medio día del canal Cartagena, Control Cartagena, En las Mañanas con Uno del Canal Uno. Payambo have also appeared on radio shows such as Radio Trece 1290 MX (Mexico), Rockanrolario (Mexico), Radiónica 99.9 FM (Medellín), Caracol Radio - La Ventana, Radio Nacional de Colombia - AfroColombia, Súper Estación Fm - Villavicencio, La UN Radio - Rios de Babilonia, Ondas del Meta am - Villavicencio, Jamaican Musik Radio from the university Politecnico Gran Colombiano, Special broadcast from the station UDC (District University of Cartagena), Uniminuto Radio, Emisora Casa Independiente de Artes, and more.
