We combine the sounds of East European music (Balkan, Gypsy and Klezmer music) with the languages of the West (Celtic Music through the Irish, Breton, Galician and Scottish traditions), melting all in the style of Gypsy Jazz and Swing Time
Melthem is made up of musicians from various countries, a fact which peppers its compositions and arrangements with a rich diversity and colours.
The members of the group have a diverse and experienced background. Each musician brings a unique musical perspective to the band including jazz, classical, Balkan, Gypsy, and Klezmer sensibilities. Formed in 2014, the group’s orthodox instrumentation has forged a sound which ignores borders that traditionally separate nations, cultures, and epochs. The group has created a musical idiom of its own imagining.
