Madeleine Mayi’s blend of indie rock and warm synths are nostalgia-inducing and wistfully honest.

Her songwriting is rooted in 70’s folk, her vocal inspirations are early jazz, and some of her deepest influences can be found in an art gallery with Rothko, Matisse, Johns-Impressionism, Surrealism and Expressionism.

Madeleine has experienced many “firsts” in 2019. She began the year promoting the release of her most recent EP, “shy” (premiered by Ones to Watch). Luna Collective Magazine’s February issue delved into Mayi’s creative process towards this EP and where she draws her influences. As the winner of the 2018 Coffee Music Project, Mayi crossed the Atlantic in March to play at the London Coffee Music Festival and appear on Tony Moore’s Soho Radio show. On the heels of her visit abroad, Madeleine paired up with Jam In The Van for three live recordings at the Angel City Brewery Festival. In May, she released her first music video for “towards you” (premiered by IMPOSE Magazine). Madeleine spent the summer embarking on a 35-date solo North American tour where she traveled by van and spent her free time in cafes, writing material to record her first full-length album. The first single for this project has a Valentine’s Day release date and the remainder of the project is anticipated in 2020.
