Kiha & the Faces Short Info

Kiha & the Faces has been on top of the Korean
indie scene for a long time now. The band is known for producing new genre of
music: sound that endorses the flavors of 1970s
Korea and the British new wave, as well as
melodious folk rock. Their songs are valued for its
unique style—which contains artful wordplay and
thought-provoking messages— and has earned a
large fan base regardless of gender or generation.
Their lyrics have been published and inscribed into
public school textbooks, which is monumental in the
history of Korean rock bands.

Kiha & the Faces officially came together in May 2008.
Kiha & the Faces’ debut single, Cheap Coffee (released in the same year), made a powerful presence online as it was released. Their experimental, yet somehow familiar songs quickly caught the public’s
attention. Their unusual dance moves and quirky style of music brought a huge sensation online, which
propelled the group to a more prominent status among indie rock bands. Soon, the band caught public’s attention.
Cheap Coffee received three awards, including “Song of the Year” at the 6th Korean Music Awards Ceremony. Today, they stand as one of the most successful Korean rock bands of the 21st century to produce quality music.

February 2009, the band released its first official album, Living the Carefree Life. Living the
Carefree Life is valued for capturing the essence of the nostalgia we have for 1970s Korean
rock, as well as a clever reinterpretation of the 70s era.
In 2011, the band released its second album, Kiha & the Faces. This new album
approached the public with a more progressed and mature sound, and was listed among
the best rock albums at the end of that year.
Kiha & the Faces won four more awards, including “Album of the Year” at the 9th
Korean Music Awards Ceremony.
Kiha & the Faces released new track I Almost Had It…, as part of the experimental “Blank
Check Project: Be Honest As You Pay for It and Take It,” project, which allowed consumers
to buy the song at whatever price they wanted. The purpose was to highlight rising issues in
the illegal digital music download market.
October 2014, after a long time of preparation, the band released its 3rd full length album
Human Mind.
