Lighting a fire under the arse of the post-punk scene alongside bands such as Shame, Idles and Fontaines DC, Leicester’s Jools take shape through six members - including vocalist Mitchell Gordon, guitarists’ Ellis Crowson, Chris Johnston and Sam Shooter, bassist Tom Selby and drummer Pete Mcleod.

The sextet formed after being inspired by Shame’s television performance on Jools Holland in early 2018, hence the name.
The band quickly caught the eye of BBC’s Dean Jackson. Who discovered their first and only demo, an attack on television personality, Piers Morgan. The track, Good Morning Britain, was aired on the Saturday night BBC Introducing East Midlands slot towards the end of last year.

Jools followed up their response to Good Morning Britain with a series of live shows, most notably appearing at Handmade Festival, sharing the stage with artists such as The Murder Capital and LIFE. In July 2019, Jools spent the week in Leeds, working closely with Bob Cooper, recording their debut single ‘Hysterical Starving Naked.’ Jools took to the stage again that weekend, returning to their hometown to play a sold out headline show at The Cookie.

Since then, they have received widespread praise from online publications such as Reyt Good Magazine, Little Dose of Indie, Destroy Exist and local press as well. - “The band we didn’t know we needed." (Music in Leicester, 2019). The release of their debut single ‘Hysterical Starving Naked’ was celebrated with a packed 02 academy headline at the beginning of November and their release has since been added to Spotify’s ‘New Punk Tracks’ playlist with over 140,000 followers. Providing the icing on the cake to a very productive first year for the band.
