World famous saxophone player and producer Igor Butman enjoys one of the most successful and flamboyant careers in the history of modern jazz.

Berklee alumnus runs Moscow Jazz Orchestra aka Igor Butman Orchestra and Igor Butman Quartet, their intensive schedule include regular US tours and the most important European and Asian jazz festivals (in 2013 Igor's orchestra, rendered by Downbeat as "an outfit of virtuosos", took part in Umbria Jazz Festival, Jazz à Juan and Wigan Jazz Festival while he performed as a soloist with a symphonic orchestra in Singapore and with IB Quartet in India). Downbeat magazine in his recent review of Umbria Jazz Festival compared the Orchestra to three finest jazz orchestras of all times: “The Igor Butman Big Band ... offered a 90-minute set that displayed their mastery of post-Dizzy Gillespie jazz orchestra language, rendering both bright numbers and ballads with the precision, flair and swing of the Atomic-era Basie Band on steroids and a “We will crush you” attitude reminiscent of the better editions of the Buddy Rich Orchestra...”

Igor Butman Quartet, led by world famous saxophone player Igor Butman, is a unity of four Russia's topmost jazz soloists, working together since 1999. During these years the band has evolved into Russia's best touring hardcore jazz unit.

The rhythm section of the Quartet is the strongest in Russian straight-ahead jazz, and consists of pianist Anton Baronin, acoustic bass player Sergey Korchagin and drummer Eduard Zizak.

In 2000, the Igor Butman Quartet performed at the Moscow Kremlin in front of the U.S. President Bill Clinton and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Since 1999 the quartet has performed at high-profile jazz festivals in Germany, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Spain and Turkey and toured USA, Israel, Belgium and Finland.

Igor Butman Quartet also toured Russia and other countries with such special guest soloists as Joe Locke, Randy Brecker, Fantine, Allan Harris and many more great musicians. In 2011 the Quartet performed a special concert with Wynton Marsalis at Lviv Jazz Festival in Ukraine. Igor Butman Quartet also has been frequently collaborating with Moscow Soloists chamber orchestra led by Russian Grammy winning viola player Yuri Bashmet.

It’s been 11 years since the release of the latest album “Prophecy” by Igor Butman Quartet at Universal Music Russia, and now Butman Music Records comes up with a sensational work by the Quartet “Igor Butman & Friends”, recorded long time ago but never released before!

In 2002 Igor Butman gathered his friends, internationally acclaimed jazz masters, for a recording session at Avatar Studios in New York. The line up of the date is just overwhelming: saxophonists Michael Brecker and Bill Evans, trumpeters Alex Sipyagin and Vitaly Golovnev, vocalists Kevin Mahogany and Carla Cook, guitarist Adam Rogers and bassist Eddie Gomez are playing along with mighty Igor Butman Quartet swinging hard and delivering high-octane jazz groove!

Internationally renowned jazzmen were excited by performing with Igor Butman Quartet, among them are Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, John Pizzarelli, Dee Dee Bridgewater, “New York Voices”, Kevin Mahogany, Gino Vanelli, Larry Corryell, Billy Cobham, Bill Evans. Joe Lovano, Gary Burton, Toots Thielemans and many more.

Igor Butman's discography spans from CD Then and Now by Grover Washington featuring French Connections tune composed to more than 10 albums both as a leader and co-leader, including Magic Land (Sony Classic) with Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette, John Patitucci, Stefon Harris and Randy Brecker which became golden in Russia and became a bestseller in the USA and Germany. Bill Clinton included Igor Butman's "Nostalgie" track in his special “The Bill Clinton Collection”. Igor Butman played "Nostalgie" for US President Bill Clinton and Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2000. Clinton described this performance in his book "My Life". "Before I left Moscow, Putin hosted a small dinner in the Kremlin with a jazz concert afterward, featuring Russian musicians from teenagers to an octogenarian. The finale began on a dark stage, a haunting series of tunes by my favorite living tenor saxophonist, Igor Butman. John Podesta, who loved jazz as much as I did, agreed with me that we had never heard a finer live performance."
