Fast-forward to 2023, Hause Plants have become one of the hardest-working
bands in Portugal. Joined by his childhood friends Dani Royo, Janny Silva and
João Simões, Guilherme has turned Hause Plants into a well-oiled machine,
whether they're on stage, in the studio, or at a bar, where you can usually find the
four friends hanging out, always interested in meeting new people and trying the
latest craft beer in town.
With their catchy melodies, energetic live shows, and strong social presence,
Hause Plants quickly rose to prominence in Lisbon, and they were ready to expand
elsewhere. In 2022, the band moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to release their
next EP, ‘Sleeping With Weird People EP’, via the LA-based label Spirit Goth. Over
six months, they explored New York's fast-paced lifestyle, Lower East Side’s dive
bars and Brooklyn’s warehouse parties, and they were quickly embraced by the
city's indie scene.
Since then, Hause Plants have played over 75 shows, performed at numerous
festivals including New Colossus Festival and Vodafone Paredes de Coura, played
at iconic venues such as Arlene's Grocery and Berlin Under A in Manhattan,
Supersonic in Paris and Vera in Groningen, and opened for bands such as Ducks
Ltd. (CA), The Lounge Society (UK), The Haunted Youth (BE) or Kate Davis (US).
2023 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for Hause Plants, with their recent
nomination for the Music Moves Europe Awards, the European Union ceremony
that distinguish Europe’s best new talent, a performance at Eurosonic Noorderslag,
considered by Clash Magazine one of the best showcases of the festival, their first
self-booked European tour with the help from the Liveurope initiative and an
appearance at FOCUS Wales, in Wrexham.
In June, the band is set to release their latest EP, ‘Field Trip To Coney Island EP’,
featuring five jangle-pop and indie rock songs that make up Guilherme's most
mature, complex, and meticulous work to date. While experimenting with new
sounds, old synthesizers and unorthodox production techniques, his primary goal
was to make a guitar-driven pop record that people could dance to. Filled with
intimate lyrics, explosive choruses and gleeful guitars reimagined into surprising
song structures and blissful experimentation, ‘Field Trip To Coney Island EP’ is just
that: 25 minutes of music to keep you happy and make you call your friends.
