About the event

Play MENT Ljubljana 2017 - a festival & conference in Slovenia!

MENT Ljubljana is a three day event (1/2/3 February 2017). The festival part takes place in different venues around the city and presents talent and quality acts with a potential for international bookings. The focus of the conference is on the local (ex-Yugoslavian) and broader (Eastern Europe) region with delegates from all around Europe and beyond.

In its second edition (2016), more than 3000 people visited the conference and concert events, of which a significant share constituted an international audience, mostly from neighboring countries. More than 320 delegates, music professionals and musicians from 27 countries attended the festival. Their responses stressed the quality and professionalism of the festival’s organization, with the selected musical performances receiving the most praise. To our knowledge more than 30% of the acts get further bookings and options at the festival, with a record of 7 bookings for a single artist.

“MENT Ljubljana was really a breath of fresh air. You can immediately see when the right people are doing things for the right reasons and also have the skills, knowledge and good taste in doing so. The quality of the music was super impressive! I have a feeling that there’s a lot of good stuff to be expected from Slovenia very soon!”
– Helen Sildna, Tallinn Music Week

“It’s the best rock-orientated showcase event I’ve been to, and you score highly for the quality and diversity (so important!) of the showcases and the vibrant quality of the conferences.”
– Nick Hobbs, Charmenko

“MENT was my third showcase this year. And to be honest, it was the best one. I felt the organizers did not do it just as a part of their business, but because they are truly interested in presenting new music and new names. This was the main point of the festival, and that’s what we (musicians) really need.”
– Natallia Kunitskaya / Mustelide (artist)

“One of the key differences that makes East European music events so addictive is the spread of bands they put on. There is no search for the next big thing, that indie X Factor where success and the stadium flyers of the future are the key. By booking a thrilling and diverse range of bands and musicians, events like MENT are conversely following their own instinct whilst showcasing a daring local band scene that serves as a template for an alternative universe and a peek into a new future. By not following the music business model and relying on instinct and a fascinating local scene, MENT could well be breaking out another set of bands who could end up being bigger than the usual tried and tested music.”
– John Robb, Louder Than War / The Membranes

“I loved the people, saw amazing bands, loved the venues you chose. It truly was one of the best conference experiences I have had in a long time.”
– Scott Cohen, The Orchard

“If I organized a music festival, I’d probably do a comprehensive copy-paste of MENT.”
– Mariusz Herma, Beehype

“When you need me, I’ll respond with all my heart.”
– Sanjin Đukić, Los Angeles Agency

“Keep doing it, we need something like this in the region badly.”
– Zsuzsanna Bende, A38

Music professionals and artists from countries like Estonia, Belarus, Poland, Finland, Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia got their chance. Full venues testify that music doesn’t know borders, making MENT a real pleasure for the ears.
