“Most of all we want our music to be real and honest”, the musicians themselves explain their approach. “We try to reach out and move the audience with our songs in times when perfection and conformity seem to be the only things that matter anymore.”
Ghostnotes are an acoustic Pop-/Rockband from Kassel, Germany, formed in 2009.
After experimenting with genres and styles for a while, they established their trademark sound which can best be described as “emotional melancholic pop”.
“Most of all we want our music to be real and honest”, the musicians themselves explain their approach. “We try to reach out and move the audience with our songs in times when perfection and conformity seem to be the only things that matter anymore.”
Helping them to achieve this goal is the emotional and diverse guitar-playing of Markus Wagner, providing both acoustic and electric guitars, as well as Steffen Mascher´s soft and melodic way of playing the grand piano. Together with Lars Hennemann´s dynamic drumming they provide the foundation for the haunting melodies and beautiful songs that will get stuck in your head. Ranging from mellow and vulnerable to powerful and euphoric, lead singer Jörn Ihmels makes sure the listener instantly connects to the musical and lyrical themes of the songs.
Their first full-length-album “Crossroads” – a concept album – has just been recorded by the band and will be released by ZeitArt-Records in early 2013. It tells the story of a young man going through several states of loss, grief and emotional isolation and his desperate struggle to find the right way in his life again. “We put everything we had to offer into this record”, the band emphasizes. “Writing and recording it has been a long but fulfilling journey for us. We hope that you will hear and feel some of the passion and devotion we put into it and that we will see you on the road some time to share this experience with you on a stage somewhere.”
