Zumindest laut der Freiburger Metal Band Dr. Baer.
Diese vereinen die agressive Energie und technische Rafinesse des Progressive Metal mit
Elementen aus Bluesrock, Weltmusik und weiteren Stilistiken, die man in diesem Zusammenhang eher nicht erwarten würde.
Was dabei entsteht bezeichnet die Band selbst liebevoll als " Brutal Ethno Prog " und klingt, wenn man denn unbedingt einen Vergleich ziehen möchte, irgendwie nach dem außerehelichen Kind von Meshuggah, Tool und Ravi Shankar.
Oder so ähnlich.
Seit der Bandgründung im Jahr 2016 veröffentlichten die Jungs von Dr. Baer bereits 2 Tonträger: die EP "Galama" und das Konzeptalbum "Exercises In Composure".
Weiteres Material, darunter ein Musikvideo ist in Arbeit.

Dr. Bær is a Progressive Metal band based in Freiburg, Germany. The band has an
artistic style that is characterized by pairing genre-typical progressive metal elements such
as odd times, drop-tuned instruments and unique song structures and applying them to
contrasting combinations of genres such as Blues Rock and World Music. The band
accurately labels this synthetically obtained amalgamation of genres as “Brutal Ethno Prog”.
Their live performances make for an atmosphere with a high amount of aggression and
energy.
Since its inception in 2017, Dr. Bær has released an EP titled “Galama” (2017) and a
concept album, “Exercises in Composure” (2019). New material and performances are
always top priority.
