Dark new agers DOOMSQUAD re-code the electronic music narrative with a more worldly and cosmological presence than the genre would normally dictate.

Their songs are rich in variance and full of vividness, spanning across their entire debut LP Kalaboogie (released February 2014 via Hand Drawn Dracula CAN/US, No Pain In Pop UK/EU). Drawing in guitar, flute, percussion and synth, the Montreal and Toronto-based siblings Allie, Jaclyn and Trevor Blumas act as aural anthropologists, teaming relics of cross cultural traditions like chanting and repetition over seismic ripples of deep bass. Doomsquad’s mixing of influences leaves you feeling awakened.

- Redefine Magazine

"Plotting concepts online before midwifing them in person, the group weave the aboriginal music of their North Canadian upbringing into the visionary sounds of Gang Gang Dance, Fever Ray and Gazelle Twin. Subtly entrancing and sulphurous, Kalaboogie stretches out like a volcanic winter, soaring over DOOMSQUAD’s native Canadian wilds and effortlessly outpacing the long shadow of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell." - Dazed & Confused, UK

"A defiantly "album" like album in an ipod era. DOOMSQUAD's full-length debut is a monument to bloodyminded strangeness: a free-flowing melange of creepy chants, druggy drones and lockstep beats that only truly betrays its greatness when consumed in a single, enchanting sitting. I don't know what goes on 'round siblings Allie, Jaclyn & Trevor Blumas's place, but it's probably not normal." - Ben Rayner, Toronto Star's Best Albums of 2014

”The UK has a touch of jet-lag on being up-to-date with Canadian trip-merchants DOOMSQUAD, think The XX and Mezzanine-era Massive Attack forming a supergroup. It’s worth checking out.” ~ Spindle Magazine, UK

“DOOMSQUAD are among the best performers in Canadian indie” ~ Exclaim! Magazine

"This mesmerizing longer player is in the running for best late night album of 2014″ - Gimme Tinnitus, US

"Doomsquad is an example of a group that has the potential to defy cheesy stereotypes, particularly with their new single 'Ovoo'. Put it this way: the urban jungle would be nowhere without the witchy woods to daydream about." - Impose Magazine, US

"Doomsquad lays out a cacophonous blueprint of densely layered instrumentation and dreamlike cadences that draw you in” - Notes from Left of the Dial, US

Clash Magazine (UK) & Drowned In Sound (UK) Best of The Great Escape Festival 2014: DOOMSQUAD bring their engrossing weirdness to the city's Blind Tiger venue. Great name, that - and the band's music is instantly appealing too, coming on like F*ck Buttons soundtracking a halfway decent remix to The Wicker Man."

Upcoming News: The band is heading into the New Mexican desert for the months of February and March to record the follow up to their debut LP Kalaboogie. They will also be making their first appearance at this year's SXSW festival followed by an extensive tour of the South & East Coast of the US with experimental electro-pop wizards PHEDRE.
