Dolly Mavies is an Oxfordshire-based post-folk artist whose music blends indie, folk, and atmospheric rock into something both intimate and cinematic.

With a captivating voice and emotionally charged songwriting, she has quickly gained attention across the UK for songs that balance tenderness with raw, punch-you-in-the-gut honesty.

Her debut album The Calm and The Storm weaves together dark, brooding anthems and delicate, dream-like moments, exploring the tensions between hope and uncertainty, love and loss, and the quiet questions we ask ourselves late at night. Drawing on influences from artists like The National, Daughter, Patti Smith, Snow Patrol, and Ben Howard, Mavies turns everyday life, politics, and inner turmoil into widescreen songs that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable.

The album has already attracted strong support from UK radio. BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson named her “one of my favourites,” while BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris praised the project, saying, “We love what she’s doing.” At Absolute Radio, presenter Danielle Perry highlighted the authenticity of her sound: “You can hear quality as soon as she starts… it feels so heartfelt and genuine.”

On stage, Dolly Mavies is joined by a powerful five-piece band, transforming her songs into immersive live experiences that move seamlessly between ethereal dreamscapes and driving, spirit-lifting anthems. Whether delivering a fragile folk lullaby or a soaring indie-rock crescendo, her performances carry an emotional intensity that leaves audiences both stirred and uplifted.

With critical praise from Fresh on the Net, RnR Magazine, and Shire Folk Magazine, Dolly Mavies is quickly establishing herself as one of Oxfordshire’s most compelling emerging voices.
