The Dark Science story is a tangled tale of chance meetings, theft, arson and an overriding belief in pursuing your dreams, touching down in California, New York, Leeds and London along the way.
Certainly gorgeous, seemingly fully formed the story reads like a 60's road movie. It begins on Mission Beach in San Diego, where a barefooted Dave Priestman is sold some needy Converse trainers from a fellow traveller (friendships formed on the road will become significant later) After hanging round the USA playing music and forming bands in a variety of projects the seed of Dark Science begins to germinate; On returning to windy/cold London, Priestman hooks up with vocalist Baz Bradley and Dark Science takes on its first formation.
Fast forward. After cutting their teeth rehearsing in every dive across the country, Dark Science surface to play a handful of choice dates in London. Word travels fast to New York... the band follows, where they blow the roof clean-off the legendary Mercury Lounge. However before leaving the Big Apple, Dark Science will have suffered theft and arson, but that’s another story.....
The Dark Scientist’s music has evolved as much from their everyday experiences as from their musical influences. In amongst their dirty bass lines and driving metalic beats, Baz's vocals spin tales of the bands crazed adventures. Their sound has an energy, propelled by the romantic notion that music is about that certain dark, uplifting feeling; like the hairs standing-up on the back of the neck, like taping the charts on Sunday in the days when it was all about energy and love....and meaning it.
Dark Science’s first release the eponymously self titled album is scheduled for release into the world this summer 2015 . After playing the prestigious “Golden Joystick Awards 2014” and headlining the iconic Barfly Club in Camden Town London twice over Christmas it seams that once again The Dark Scientists are ready to return to where it all began…..
