Like performing totally natural at the age of 9 with Chucho in Cubas mains music contest Adolfo Guzmann in 1986.
Even clearly influenced by his family music tradition, Cucurucho had big interest in Cuban danceable music, ending up in the finest Cuban salsa orchestras like Charanga Habanera or Isaac Delgado. Finally in 2001 he was invited to join Grammy winning band Los Van Van. He did not only substitute world famous Pupy Pedroso, till he left in 2014 Cucurucho turned in a fundamental musician of the 16 piece orchestra. Contributing compositions, arrangements and musical direction to the band.
Now with his own project, and surrounded by a selection of well known artists like Buena Vista Social Club timbales player Amadito Valdés or the outstanding voice of Mayra Valdés, Chucho’s sister and some great young musicians, Cucurucho presents his passion for Cuban traditional music.
All own compositions that combine perfectly old school Cuban piano tradition with a fresh, powerfull and unique style of a interpret, familiar to perfom hundreds of concerts before huge dancing audiences all over the world. At Miami Arena, Roundhouse London or venues from Opera Sydney to Hollywood Bowl´, or before more than one millon persons at the Peace Concert in Havana in 2009.
