CACIQUE’97 is a Portuguese-Mozambican afrobeat collective, that crosses the afrobeat rhythm of Nigeria with the musical tradition of Portuguese speaking countries of Africa and Brazil.

Is this mixture that makes Cacique'97 one of the most innovative afrobeat bands.

Together since 2005, they have captivated audiences with its warm sound, so vibrant and interventional, and a contagious energy on stage.

After an EP and a debut album that received rave reviews in national and international press, now comes the new album - We Used To Be Africans, released on CD, Vinyl and Digital, in November 2016 by Rastilho Records, in which the sounds of the Lusophone are more present.

We Used To Be Africans has a few special guests such as Nneka, Jorge du Peixe, Azagaia, Nastio Mosquito and it was considered one of the best albums of Year 2016 in Portugal.
