Blaumut is a band formed by Xavi de la Iglesia (guitar and vocals), Vassil Lambrinov (violin), Oriol Aymat (violoncello), Manel Pedrós (drums) and Manuel Krapovickas (Double bass).

In 2011 they sign up with Picap and in October 2012 present their first album under the name El turista. A unique and innovate music project that combines pop, folk and classic music with a more singer song writer style and surprising lyrics that reflect feelings created from images. A creative album of great quality that shows us a new band that is already amongst the most renowned and influential line-ups in the country, Blaumut.

In just a few months the band and their frontman Xavi de la Iglesia win over both audience and critics. Their first single ‘Pa amb oli i sal’ (Bread with oil and salt) was one of the most listened to and whistled songs of these past few years. Last February, after hitting the charts and even being played at the Camp Nou every time the Barcelona team play, ‘Pa amb oli i sal’ ends up winning the Enderrock award for best pop rock song 2012 with the audiences’ votes.

In spring 2013 the band presents their second single ‘Bicicletes’, which turns into one of the most important songs of that following summer and they start an intense tour that takes them to play “El turista” around every single region in the country. More then 60 live shows, where over 200.000 people enjoyed a spectacular and polished show of what is, without doubt, the best band of the moment.

That year, Blaumut play at nearly all the major summer festivals, Festival Grec, El festival de Cap Roig, L’Interludi, Sons del Món, L’Acampada Jove, Costa Music Festival, Portalblau Festival or the Acustica amongst others.

Between concerts the band still made time to collaborate in the recording of an album in honour of Salvador Espriu “Amb música ho escoltaries potser millor” (With music you’d probably hear it better) in which they contribute with their particular cover version of the poem ‘I beg your pardon’ with which they win the Cerverí Any Espriu 2013 Award.

A spectacular beginning for a band that have just started their musical adventure, that in just one year have already reached top of the sales charts and that offer an astounding act that has managed to fill up every single one of the concerts they have played up to this day.

El turista is still on tour and Blaumut will continue to give their amazing live shows in the main theatres and venues around Catalunya in the months to come.

When we all thought the formula of nice melodies, enchanting vocal harmonies and acoustic textures was all smudged and used in the Catalan scene, Blaumut suddenly appear, filling enclosures like the Grec Theatre. There is a refinement in Blaumut that connects with a classical tradition, or maybe with chamber music, but without letting go of folk grammar and that twist of pop music. Blaumut is, most of all, a well-mannered band. JORDI BIANCIOTTO (EL PERIODICO)
