'The 59 Sound' by The Gaslight Anthem was that song for Steve Millar, taking him from his past of Arctic Monkey rip-offs and alternative hip hop bands into 'Arms & Hearts'.
Combined with collaborative project TO ANYWHERE with other acoustic names in the Manchester scene such as Sammy Battle, Emma Hallows and Sam Lyon, Steve learnt much more about songwriting and performance than he ever could have imagined.
Fast forward to the present day, after 3 self-booked tours (some travelling solely on public transport) as well as shows with This Wild Life, Xtra Mile artists Billy The Kid and Skinny Lister and Northcote himself, Steve is finally able to present his latest EP 'Set In Stone'.
The honest lyrical content within the EP really helps define Steve's passion that he places into his musical, along with his heart and soul. Depression, anxiety and love all take centre stage, whilst lyrics like 'This is damned from the start' are beautifully forward yet tragically heartbreaking at the same time. .....Testimonials.....
‘It’s clear that his future sound will be unique, melancholy-yet-cheery, and certainly one that we’ll be listening to for a long time’. - Indientry Music Blog
‘Take No Prisoners. I love that the track is all acoustic; I thought it was a fantastic way to finish the EP’. - Colin’s Punk Rock World
Arms and Hearts delivers an earnest selection of acoustic folk-punk full of raw lyrical themes; lost and heartache. - Already Heard
If the songs can carry the same weight live as they do recorded then we can see Millar’s Arms & Hearts going on to do big things over the next few months.
