Aimée Short Info

Hailing from Liphook, Hampshire, Aimée Mackenzie is a professional singer/songwriter who has been performing regularly on the music scene in London and the Home Counties since 2009.

In 2009, at the tender age of 13, Aimée performed solo at Portsmouth Guildhall in the National Finals of Live and Unsigned to a 2000 strong audience, finishing the event judged by industry professionals to be in the top 5 in the country in her genre.

Now ably supported in her newly formed trio by two of her younger siblings, Freya on acoustic violin and backing vocals and Ross on Cajon, 2014 brought invitations to play numerous festivals across the country including Isle Of Wight, Cornbury, Guilfest, Weyfest, Purbeck Folk, Village Pump Folk, Southdowns Folk as well as a personal invitation from Steve Knightley to perform at Show Of Hands’s exclusive Abbotsbury Summer Festival.

The trio have also recently supported Nizlopi, Show Of Hands, Blair Dunlop, Luke Jackson, Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston, Sheelanagig, Phillip Henry/Hannah Martin and Josienne Clarke/Ben Walker.

An outstanding BBC Introducing panel review of “Lesson Learned”, one of Aimée’s self-penned songs, resulted in an invitation to record a session for the BBC which was broadcast live right across the South of England.

“Songwriting and musicianship of the highest calibre and harmonising together as only siblings can. Just about the best young English acoustic band I’ve heard” – Steve Knightley (Show Of Hands)

“Aimée Mackenzie with younger sister Freya and brother Ross are undoubtedly hugely talented folk and acoustic musicians. They performed at the Southdowns Folk Festival in Bognor Regis in September 2013 and literally brought the house down. They deservedly won the Sussex Young Folk Performers Competition and then went on later to wow the audience at the Alexandra Theatre, receiving as well fantastic praise from Steve Knightley from Show of Hands who were headlining that night. Their music is fresh, original and performed with great skill and competence – they will go a long way” – Roger Nash – Southdowns Folk Festival 2013

“Hailing from Liphook is the vocal prowess, lyrical genius and sheer musicality of Aimée, successful singer/songwriter” – Haslemere Fringe Festival 2012
