Žiga Golob Short Info

Double-bass and electric bass player Ziga Golob was born in 1973. He joined his first musical group as an elctric bass player at the age of ten. Later on he became interested in the double-bass and began studies with prof. Luciano Bole at Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet where he graduated in 1993. Ziga's musical path has led him from various groups in primary school through forming and playing in Slovenia's first multi-racial band Afro Sound (reggae, afro), being immersed into improvised music by multidisciplinary artist Lado Jaksa, eight years stint with Vlado Kreslin, Slovenian folk-rock icon, playing and recording with Big Band RTV Slovenia to being an active member of the jazz scene for a few years. In the mid-1990s he started to work intensively in Croatia where he still works with various groups led by award winning singer – composer – flutist Tamara Obrovac, acclaimed drummer Krunoslav Levacic, and others. Ziga Golob's playing can be heard on about hundred labums released in Slovenia, Croatia, Ireland, France, Spain, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, etc. He has performed in concerts, festivals and clubs in Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Germany, France, UK, Israel, Latvia, Belgium, Spain, Greece, USA, Australia, Switzerland, Serbia, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal.
